Holy Spirit as our Guide

Scriptures:
John 21:25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
Devotion:
Did you know that everything that Jesus did was not recorded in the Bible? As the scripture says if everything was written down, the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. This is why it is so important for us to have the Holy Spirit inside us and to be sensitive to his voice (quick note: if you have given your life to Christ, you have the holy spirit).
The function of the Holy Spirit, who was given by Christ, is to teach us (John 14:26), convict us (John 16:7-8), give us revelation, truth and wisdom (Ephesians 1:17-20) and to guide us (John 16:13). His role is extremely critical because as believers we have many questions in life that we will not find the answers to in the Bible.
Those questions may be should I buy that house, is this promotion the right move for my career, who should I partner with for ministry? Having the Holy Spirit as our guide, mentor, instructor will help us make decisions that align with God’s will and the purpose he has for us. The key though is we must check in with God.
I will tell you a short story. God gave me instruction for an assignment he wanted me to complete. I was excited, eager, started taking all the necessary steps then I quickly became consumed with the task. It resulted in me feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, exhausted and neglecting the other tasks he had given me. What I realized is that although God gave me instruction, I didn’t check in with him along the way. I was trying to do everything myself.
Who better to help us than God who is the knower of all things? He made you uniquely you, gave you the assignment and knows exactly what you need to see it through. We just have to seek him and use him as our guide.
I challenge you, next time you are faced with a decision, pause then take a minute to pray and ask God what should I do?. He will give you direction.
