Scriptures:

1 John 3:6 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Devotion:

The Bible tells us that Christ appeared so that he may take away our sins and in him is no sin. This means that if Christ is in us and we in him, we are redeemed from sin.

The question to ask yourself is why do people still struggle with sin? That is because their relationship with God is one way. Christ lives in them but they don’t also live in Christ. Just like any relationship in the physical, creating a “two way street” requires effort on both parties' part.

How do we live in Christ?

  1. Seek God daily

    1. Make a conscious effort to seek God first in everything you do.

    2. This means checking in with him before making a decision.

  2. Make God a priority

    1. You prioritize people and the things you love.

    2. Have a set time for God. In that time allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into prayer or worship. It is about what he desires.

  3. Study his word

    1. The more you study, the more you learn about who God is.

    2. Read one chapter a day as God leads.

    3. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give you deeper revelation, as to the meaning of his word.

  4. Submission to his spirit

    1. God won’t force what we won’t allow.

    2. Submission requires you to be open to allow God to direct your path. It also requires your obedience.

In cultivating your relationship with God through spending time, prayer, full surrender and reading his word, we will become more like him and mirror his ways.
