Every Action has a Reaction
Devotional #11
November 2, 2023
Scriptures:
Proverbs 26:27 Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.
Devotion:
In Galatians 6:7-9 the scripture says “whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”. Similar to the scripture in today’s devotion, “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.
Just like physics this means that with every action there is an equal or opposite reaction and that everything that happens to us is not a result of “the devil” but some things are a result of our actions.
If you give in to your flesh, destruction will come (Galatians 5:19-21). If you give into your spirit, prosperity will come (Galatians 5:22-23). The “reaction” you get is dependent on who you allow to lead your life. Your spirit or your flesh.
This is why it is important that we feed our spirit and not our flesh, meaning we have to be mindful of what enters us (what we watch, what we listen to, who we surround ourselves around, places we go).
How do we feed our Spirit things of God?
Reading God’s word
Spending time in prayer
Constant fellowship with God’s people
Ultimately, what enters us, impacts what we do and what we do, will come back to us.
Reflection questions for today:
How often are you feeding your Spirit with things of God? How often are you feeding your Flesh?
Name 3 things you can do daily to strengthen your walk with Christ?
What is one area in your life that you are committing to changing, to feed your spirit instead of your flesh.
Write it down your commitment and check back in a few weeks to see if you are on track.
